Salawat That Cleaning and Take Away Your 100.000 Sins

Muslimsufi : Salawat That Cleaning and Take Away Your 100.000 Sins

Salawat That Cleaning and Take Away Your 100.000 Sins
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani qs
14 Juni 2012 - Fenton Michigan

A'udhu billah mina 'sh-shaytani 'r-rajeem Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem
Madad ya Sayyidee Ya rasoolullah ya Rahmatan lil-`alameen, madad ya Sultan al-Awliya.

Iinsha-Allah tomorrow evening is Isra wa'l-Mi`raj and we will be having a special program which in it contains the visiting of the Holy Hair of the Prophet (s) in the big mosque. And so tonite I will mention short suhbat and then do short dhikr and those who are fasting can break fast with the dates here and then go and eat later.

Someone asked me, A'udhu billah mina 'sh-shaytani 'r-rajeem Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem, Madad ya Sayyidee Grandshaykh 'Abdullah al-Fa'iz ad-Daghestani (q) and Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani. Every time we have to ask support from our guide and our teacher and when we ask guidance it means you are expressing your dedication to them and when you ask support from them you are showing your humbleness towards them and in the same time as if a prayer for them that always they will be our guides - Grandshaykh 'Abdullah al-Fa'iz ad-Daghestani (q) and Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani qs. May Allah give him long life.

And someone asked when we are listening to lectures or reading a book from these lectures that has been made there are sometimes repetition.   And can we cut that repetition? I will answer from what I heard and learned from Grandshaykh and from Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim qs, that even a same story and even the same suhbat word for word, been repeated, you keep it as it is because each suhbat has its own tajalli, manifestation and its own Divine manifestation coming through shaykh and he is getting from the Prophet (saw) heart and the Prophet (saw) is gretting from the Divine Presence. And so that suhbat is like you are wearing a dress every day but every day the body is same body. And so Grandshaykh said even I repeat a story 1000 times it comes each time with different heavenly tajalli.

So these suhbats different just like candies, each one is chocolate and so you have a different taste. That is why repetition is important. It will teach us back what we forgot, or as Allah said in Holy Qur'an fa dhakkir fa inna adh-dhikraa tanfa` al-mumineen remind of that will benefit the believers. And sometimes the audience is difference and didn't hear that previous suhbat. So they will get the blessings that listeners got the previous week. Last time we stopped at the benefits of salawat on the Prophet (saw) and we mentioned there are 45 in number but we only mentioned in detail one or two. And before we mention the benefits, we will mention these salawaat that are important for us. That salawaat on the Prophet (s) will show the greatness of the Prophet (saw). And different `ulama scholars and different awliya have different forms of salawat and these salawaat are so blessed that the one reading will get so many rewards.

And the author of kunooz .. said that if you recite the following salawaat it is like reciting 100,000 salawaat you do dailiy.

Allahuma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad `abdika wa nabiyyika wa rasoolika an-nabiyy al-umiyy wa `ala aalihi wa sahbihi wa sallim bi qadri `azhamati dhaatik fee kulli waqtin wa heen.

That is as if you recited salawaat on the Prophet (saw) 100,000 times the rewards. I will recite it again myself:

Allahuma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad `abdika wa nabiyyika wa rasoolika an-nabiyy al-umiyy wa `ala aalihi wa sahbihi wa sallim bi qadri `azhamati dhaatik fee kulli waqtin wa heen.

You read one time, that is 100.000 times salawaat and you read 2 times it is 200.000 time and you read 10 times it is one million times. Look at that salawaat we mentioned it last time but with repetition we get more rewards. If you read it one time Allah will waive 100,000 sins. 100,000 sins. Don't say I don't have 100,000 sins. We have millions and millions of sins. You cannot count the sins. Every breath you have coming in and out you have sin from your ego, your pride, your arrogance, you think you are highest, the professor, the academian, the teacher, the shaykh. Everything is molded with arrogance. The Prophet (saw) was the most, he is not the most but he is the humbleness, humbleness is him. He is the one who never... He said, O Allah dont leave me to my ego for the blink of an eye. Allahuma laa takilnee ila nafsee tarfata `aynin wa laa aqal min dhalik.

Don't say I am clean, I am brushing my teeth. You brush them as much as you like, because it is going in with arrogance and coming out with arrogance. The only breath that is clean is that breath done with salawat on the Prophet (saw) or when praying or when doing istighfar. Other times our breath is full with breath that is not nice. So every time we do this salawaat Allah will forgive us 100,000 sins of the big sins, min al-kabaair. Anyone read it one time Allah will forgive him his big sins. There are the great sins and there are small sins. With one salawat Allah takes away even 100,000 big sins. And with 2 salawat take away 200,000 big sins and with 3 salawat take away 300,000 and with 10 take away 1.000.000

Allāhumā šalli `alā Sayyīdinā Muħammadini ’s-sābiqi li ’l-khalqi nūruhu wa raħmatan li ’l-`ālamīna zhuhūruhu `adada man maļā min khalqika wa man baqīya wa man sa`ida minhum wa man shaqīya šalātan tastaghriqu ’l-`adda wa tuħīţu bi ’l-ħaddi šalātan lā ghāyata lahā wa lā muntahā wa lā ’nqiļā’a šalātan dā’imatan bi-dawāmika wa `alā ālihi wa šaħbihi wa sallim taslīman mithla dhālika Allāhumma šalli `alā Sayyīdinā Muħammadini ’Lladhī malā’ta qalbahu min jalālika wa `aynahū min jamālika fa-ašbaħa fariħan mu’ayyadan manšūran wa `alā ālihi wa šaħbihi wa sallim taslimān wa ’l-ħamdu lillāhi `alā dhālika

That took away 100,000 sins away. And for me 200,000 because I read it twice. That is in Kunooz al-Asraar page 30. And that is equal to 100 salawaat. alalhuma `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad (s) wa `aala aalhi salatan tazin al-ardeen wa-samawaati afraadi qurratil-`alamee wa ad`af dhalika innaka hameedun majeed. As if you read 100 times and it is said if you recite 1000 times on the day of Jumu`ah will see in his dream Allah, his Lord, can Allah be seen in the dream. Yes. the Prophet (saw) said I saw my Lord, coming smiling to me.

When Grandshaykh Abdullah last seclusion I did, he asked me did you see anything special and I said yes, and I say it not to be special not to be proud. I said that towards the end of my seclusiopn I saw a light. I am not seeing but I can see from the coming, I am called to approach and sitting and I am seeing there is tajalli, manifestatoin and it is said that is Allah speaking, not with any language but as if I am hearing, "Come approach you have been forgiven" and I looked behind me and I saw on the horizon people coming and coming but not able to come all the way through and all with turbans and I saw myself and Mawlana and my brother and this manifestation of heavenly presence is reaching.

So yes you can see that heavenly presence that Allah sends to you and he said, "He will see in dream his Lord or an angel or the Prophet (saw) or he can see his place in paradise." That was showing a place in paradise that I saw. Allah can keep and can take that is all in Allah's hands. Allah can give more even. And insha-Allah who does that 1000 times that salawaat Allah will give you to see His Manifestations of His Prophet or your place in Paradise. And if you don't see then try 5 weeks.

Allahuma salii `ala Muhammad an-nabiyy al-ummiy jaz-allahu `an Muhammadin maa huwa ahluh.

Very easy, I will repeat it : Allahuma salii `ala Muhammad an-nabiyy al-ummiy jaz-allahu `an Muhammadin maa huwa ahluh.  And different salawaat insha-Allah we contine tomorrow next time and we mention the benefits that we began mentioning last time. And don't say "We repeat" yes we repeat as these salawaat are repetition of other salawaat that have been put together. Allah said salloo `alayhi. Allahuma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad (saw) hatta yarda Sayyidina Muhammad (saw) wa yardaa rabbahu.

And some people asking now what is going on now, there is no suhbat since one week. So I was traveling, that is why but insha-Allah these coming days and weeks going to be lot of suhbats and insha-Allah after we finish the benefits of salawaat on the Prophet (saw), we begin with importance of Dhikrullah. May Allah forgive us. [Khatm]

Laylat Isra Miraj, Prise Him and Salam To Prophet (saw)

Muslimsufi : Laylat Isra Miraj, Prise Him and Salam To Prophet (saw)

Laylat Isra Miraj, Prise Him and Salam To Prophet (saw)
Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani qs
Jumat 15 June 2012 - Michigan

Asalamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakaatuh. Alhamdulillah rabbil-`alameen was-salat was-salam `ala ashraf al-mursaleen wa `ala aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.

I feel when I am going to say something that from Grandshaykh's Abdullah qs teaching or from Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim's qs teaching I feel we are not appropriate to speak because of our attachment to dunya. And we can see how they spent their lives, Allah (swt) making for them dunya slave to them because of their love to Allah and love to the Prophet (saw). But for us, we are not in that circle of lovers of Allah and the Prophet (saw). It might be we are imitational, yes we are trying, but I don't feel we are those people.

And I will quote this hadith from the Prophet (saw) from Abi Rayhaana (ra) the companion of the Prophet (saw) who said, I heard the Prophet (saw) saying, `an Abi Rayhaana sahib an-Nabiy sami`tu Rasoolullahi yaqool laa tara `aynan an-naar bakat min khashiyatillah. He said that I heard the Prophet (saw) saying, an eye will never see Hellfire as long as that eye is crying and tears are coming from khashiyatillah, not fear, but awareness of Allah or khashiya. I feel something to be unhappy with me. That is the meaning. I do something and I know someone is not happy with me.

Akhsha. I feel not really doing what needs to be done. So he said, I heard the Prophet (saw) saying that an eye will not see Hellfire as long as that eye has awareness and fear and feelings that Allah is not happy with it so that eye is crying. Are we crying? Sahaba when they used to not be able to see the Prophet (saw) for a day, the cry. Tears come from their eyes. Pious people if they were not able to see dreams or to fear Allah and love Allah and love the Prophet (saw) , they cry. Are we crying? No. So that shows us that we are not, because of our attachment of dunya, dunya will not let you to be a servant to Allah it wants you to be slave for her.

And the Prophet (saw) said, that eye will not see fire as long as that eye was did not sleep in the struggle for the Way of Allah. When someone feels he is not struggling enough and preferring akhira on dunya, those pious people they cry. We we don't care. So that is why I was saying that when we feel sitting and speaking, we feel that khashiya, of Allah is not there. Because of our invovlement, and people today they only think how much am I making? How much I have? How much I can make more?

And Allah swt for those who submit to Him, He made dunya to them. Not we are slave to dunya. And we mentioned many times that the Prophet (saw) took his companions to Mount Uhud and it was sunrise and he said, put the sun at your back and what you see in front of you is your shadow in front of them because the sun was in the back. And he said, If anyone of you can catch your shadow I give my jubbah. And they run, they run, they run, and they tried to catch their shadow and they were not able to do that. Can anyone catch his shadow? Until they reach the mountain and the shadow is on the mountain. Then he (saw) said, "Run to me". And they ran to him and their shadows were running behind them. And he (saw) said,"Anyone running after Allah and Me will find dunya running after him, and who turns his back on Allah and Me will find himself running after dunya and never catching it".

So for a Wali when he says only salam 'alaykum, it is enough to spread the light of Islam. But we, when we say salam 'alaykum it is empty, nothing goes with it. That is why to be connected to a guide who is conneted to the Prophet (saw) for people will direct them to awareness.

And tonite is Laylat al-Isra and Mi`raj in many countries and it is Laylat al-Isra and Mi`raj in other countries. So we are observing that tonite and that is the night which Allah blessed His Prophet (saw) with it. And Allah praised Himself by Himself by saying,"Subhanallah alladhee asraa bi `abdihi laylan min al-masjid alharam ila al-masjid al-aqsaa". So this night 27th of Rajab was the night of Monday and that is why it is an important day, Monday, where the Prophet (saw) was born on Monday and he was sent as messenger for Humanity on Monday, and he went in the journey of is Laylat al-Isra and Mi`raj on a Monday, and he left Mecca towards Madina on a Monday, and he entered Madina on a Monday and he died on a Monday. That is why he is emphasizing on the importance of a day.

Today they say, don't emphasize the importance of a day. Not there are days it is important to keep.  that is why when he as asked (saw) about fasting on the day of Monday, he said, that is the day I was born. (Hadist Muslim). He (saw) gave importance to the day he was born. And he (saw) gave importance to 27th Rajab, Laylat al-Isra and Mi`raj a Monday, and he Prophet (saw) was born on Monday, and he was sent as messenger for Humanity on Monday. And he left Mecca towards Madina on a Monday, and he entered Madina on a Monday and he left dunya on a Monday.

And Alhamdulillah that Allah blessed us with the tajalli of this night as that is a general manifestation on mumins and muslims, the Night of Israa wa'l-Mi`raj. Allah swt has said that, "Subhanallah alladhee asraa bi `abdihi laylan min al-masjid alharam". Praise be to Allah who began the Prophet's night journey from the Masjid al-Haraam, the Masjid al-Makki. And all of Mecca is Haram. Haram is a place where you cannot commit a sin. So the Ka`ba, all around the area is Haram, whereever you stand, the streets are haram, and where you cannot do anytihng wrong.  In the interpretation of that it is said your heart is your haram.

Allah gave everyone a haram within himself that he must not let shaytan to enter. In the heart there is a place for shaytan to enter and the Prophet (saw) said, I am the only one that was able to ride on my shaytan. And that means everyone else is struggling. And the best place is the heart, as in Ka`ba, the most important part, while all of Ka`ba is important there is one place that the Prophet (s) kissed, and that is the Black Stone, and they say the Black Stone was originally white, green-white and because of the sins of people, it became darker and darker, and it is carrying the heaviness of millions of people who are going and visiting Ka`batullah, the House of Allah.

And it is said that the Black Stone (Hajr Aswad) when it was descending from Paradise, wherever there was light coming from that Black Stone, whereever that light reaches as it was coming down to Ka`ba, that area become haram. That is why they say hudoor al-Mashaykh, to be in the presence of a Shaykh will give you a light because that Shaykh became a haram, because he is filled up with light of the Prophet (saw) and as the Sahaba, where the Prophet (saw) said, "My Companions are like the stars, whichever one you follow you will be guided". Because they became a haram. Their being in the presence of the Prophet (saw) gave them holiness, gave them something that manifested on them from the Allah's Beautiful Names and Attributes. So they became different people and whichever you want to follow you will be guided.

And Awliyaullah they have nothing to fear, they are like haram. When you approach them, you are like sitting in a heavenly place as they are after akhira , not after dunya, and Allah turned shaytan away from them. And ibn `Abbas said that when Sayyidina Adam (as) was brought on earth from Paradise he went into sajda, asking Allah for forgiveness, and after 40 years in sajda not raising his head, Allah sent Jibril (as) to him. Telling him that Allah accepted his repentance. fashaka ila allahi ta`ala ma faata minal-`arsh. He complained to Allah that in Paradise I used to encircumambulate the `Arsh and here I have nothing to encircumambulate. And so Allah sent the Bayt al-Mamoor, Allah has sent a copy, or a reflection of the Ka`ba in Paradise where the angles are making tawaaf, end sent him one on earth in order not to miss his encircumambulation, he sent him the Ka`ba.

And this is all to show how much Allah gave to Ummat an-Nabi (saw) and the secrets in Surat al-Israa.  It was, that reflection of the Ka`ba that came on earth was a red ruby, completely how big is it, it was a red ruby has a red color emitting from it. And it has spread all over the earth lighting up what is between the East and West and and the shayateen were running from that light as it was finishing them. When they run away, they run to above the earth and they were looking and when they tried to reach, and that light coming, Allah prevented them by angels.

So that will show us how much there are sacred and secret information that we ignore or we don't know, we are ignorant about it. And these Awliyaullah that put tafsir of Holy Qur'an show us how much we are in need to learn and to give respect to the one that Allah swt has mentioned that "I am praising Myself," Allah is saying that "Bringing My servant in a Mi`raj to be in My Presence." That is not easy that is,"Kun fayakoon". No one can do that. So that is why Allah is saying "Subhanallah alladhee asraa bi `abdihi laylan min al-masjid alharam".

No one can make someone to go to qaaba qawsayni aw adna and come back and his mattress is still warm, and he went to heavens and he checked Hellfire, and he was in qaaba qawsayni aw adna. And even Gibril (as) was not able to be with him. So pious people understand that surah meant them, as the Masjid al-Haram is the status of the heart, which is not allowed for the bad desires to overtake the heart, as you cannot do a sin in front of Ka`ba, you cannot allow your heart to be affected with your bad desires.

May Allah swt guide us to understand that our heart is a place which is sacred that Allah swt has put light in that heart as the Prophet (s) said,  "Ma wasi`anee samaaee wa la ardee wa laakin wasi`anee qalbee `abdee al-mumin".

May Allah make our heart a place where the manifetation of Allah's Allah's Beautiful Names and Attributes will reach there and Allah mentioned he made that journey at night from the Masjid al-Haram to the Masjid al-Aqsaa, the farthest place you can reach. And they described Masjid al-Aqsa as the Maqam ar-rooh. Anyone has to make mi`raj, as everyone is eligible to follow the footsteps of the Prophet (saw) and the Prophet (saw) can take him in a Mi`raj up to the capacity of that person, through his soul and through his heart. That is why everyone who speaks the language of spirituality define, the soul and importance of the soul and the importance of the heart.

May Allah swt guide us to reach the heavenly Allah's Beautiful Names and Attributes knowledge and be away from shaytan and be more near to the Prophet (saw). May Allah forgive us bihurmatil-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatiha. These minutes before Maghrib are best time to make ziyara of the Prophet (s) holy hair. And then we pray Maghrib and then we pray Salat at-Tasabeeh and then salawat and qasida. Wa min Allah at-Tawfeeq bi hurmati 'l-Fatiha.

We will bring the holy hair of the Prophet (saw), but you have to make respect and discipline. So no kissing my hands; only kiss hair of the Prophet (saw) and move. Kiss and move so we can finish in this time, before maghrib 15 minutes.

Wa min Allah at Tawfeeq

Cara Penggunaan Siwak / Bersiwak

Muslimsufi : Cara Penggunaan Siwak / Bersiwak

Cara Penggunaan Siwak / Bersiwak

Imam Ghazali rahimahullah melengkapi caranya, yaitu:

Sulitkah? Jangan lupa, satu kali anda bertasbih kepada Allah dengan diawali siwak, maka dihitung 70X bertasbih. Shalat dengan diawali siwak, akan terhitung 70X shalat. Dua rakaat shalat tahajjud diawali dengan siwak, maka dihitung 140 rakaat tahajjud. Hebat bukan? Maha Suci Sang Maha Dermawan menempatkan curahan kedermawanannya pada segala hal.

Cara Rasulullah SAW bersiwak adalah sebagai berikut:
  1. Berdoa sebelum bersiwak. Salah satu do’a yang dicontohkan Rasulullah SAW adalah: “Allahumma thahhir bissiwaak Asnaaniy, wa qawwiy bihi Litsaatsiy, wa afshih bihi lisaniy“, yang artinya “Wahai Allah sucikanlah gigi dan mulutku dg siwak, dan kuatkanlah Gusi gusiku, dan fashih kan lah lidahku”;
  3. Bersiwak dimulai dari jajaran gigi atas-tengah, lalu atas-kanan, lalu bawah-kanan, lalu bawah-tengah, lalu atas-tengah, lalu atas-kiri, lalu bawah-kiri. Jadi seperti angka 8 yang ditulis rebah :-)
  4. Langkah ke-3 di atas dilakukan 3x putaran;
  5. Selesai bersiwak, mengucapkan hamdalah, “Alhamdulillah“.
Kapan saja bersiwak? Rasulullah mencontohkan waktu-waktu utama bersiwak adalah sebagai berikut;
  1. Hendak berwudhu dan sholat;
  2. Ketika akan memasuki rumah;
  3. Ketika bangun tidur. Baca: Cara Tidur Rasulullah SAW;
  4. Ketika sedang berpuasa (shaum);
  5. Ketika hendak membaca Al-Qur’an.
Beberapa hal lain yang pernah Rasulullah SAW contohkan tentang bersiwak:
  1. Cucilah siwak sebelum menggunakan dengan air bersih;
  2. Sebelum digunakan, sebaiknya siwak diperbaiki/diperbagus terlebih dahulu;
  3. Boleh menggunakan siwak orang lain setelah dibersihkan;
  4. Bersungguh-sungguhlah ketika bersiwak;
Wallahu’alam bissahawab.

Books review

Format:Paperback
This autobiography, however well-meaning, is a vanity press publication by a young man who is intent on establishing his credability as a potential guru or Sufi master. The entire book is written from this perspective, and all the author's relaying of his spiritual experiences are honed to this end. To the uninitiated spiritual seeker, the book is very convincing and touching, if at times the author appears to be somewhat naive. It does seem that Vaughan Lee needs the reader to be convinced that he personally has an "inner cell-phone" line to a superior being, which makes him more 'special' than us lesser mortals. Again and again, by his own pen, he subtly seeks to make his story match some kind of blueprint of a trainee Sufi Master. There is no doubt that he is convinced by his own rhetoric, although to the discerning reader it would appear that he is treading on uncertain ground.

I found his personal conviction in his own 'specialness', and his obsession with 'suffering' as THE direct path to God psychologically unhealthy, personally revealing and, from a spiritual point of view, more than a little outdated in its patriarchial overtones and heirarchical approach. The sanctification of 'struggle' balanced by the occasional bout of 'bliss' until the 'lover' becomes exhausted and supposedly 'egoless' is very attractive and beguiling, but belies the truth that a realized sense of 'Oneness' with the 'Beloved' IS readily and effortlessly available to every human. Those who have comprehended and embraced this universal and ever-present state are generally people who have no need to justify themselves; to set up non-profits to fund themselves; nor to found their very own vanity publishing companies. In my experience they generally have little interest in collecting followers or becoming teachers, they live quietly and openly in the world, mostly unheeded, and are recognizeable by the very personal friendships they share with those they meet in life, by their simplicity and by the way they shine.

The Qur'an is the revelation of Allah's Own Words for the guidance of His creatures. Since the Qur'an is the primary source of Islamic teachings, the correct understanding for the Qur'an is necessary for every Muslim. The Tafsir of Ibn Kathir is the most renowned and accepted explanation of the Qur'an in the entire world. In it one finds the best presentation of Hadiths, history, and scholarly commentary.

Book Reviews

A very good explanation of the Koran with references from hadiths and incidents pertaining to the revelation of different ayats. I happened to read some pieces from the tafsir by the famous maulana maududi but this one seemed better for two reasons: firstly, because of the depth of the material (this one has 10 volumes while the other one has 2), and secondly because maududi wrote his tafsir initially in urdu (which i guess is widely read in countries like Pakistan) which hasn't been translated well into english.

You can also check out this website: www.tafsir.com which has all the volumes online.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read the translation of the Koran and different background stories about different ayats. But keep in mind that it is an extensive explanation so take as much time as you want to absorb the material. I finished reading half of it when i realized that I need a break before I can read the other half. Overall, a very good volume set for people who want to understand the Koran.

Who Are the Prophet’s Brothers?

Muslimsufi : Who Are the Prophet’s Brothers?

By Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani
1 June 2012    Burton, Michigan
Jumu`ah Khutbah at As-Siddiq Mosque

Alhamdulillah that Allah (swt), with His Endless Mercy, honored us to be from Ummat an-Nabi (s) without us doing anything, and there will be no payment fir it except our worshipness. Allah (swt) did not ask from us anything except servanthood: to pray to Allah (swt) Whom created us and to thank Him by saying, “alhamdulillah, shukrulillah, subhaanAllah, and Allahu Akbar,” to keep repeating these four beautiful words that are part of Holy Qur'an. Any way you recite them is okay, thanking Allah (swt) that He made us reach this month, about which the Prophet (s) said:

رجب شهر الله، وشعبان شهري، ورمضان شهر أمتي

Rajabun shahrullah wa sha`baanu shahree wa ramadanu shahra ummattee.
Rajab is Allah's month, Sha`baan is my month and Ramadan is the month of the Ummah.
(Abul-Fath ibn Abi Fawaris in his `Amalee from al-Hasan, mursalan).

Ramadan is the month in which it is good to increase `ibaadah. It is related by Abi Sa`eed al-Khudri (r) that the Prophet (s) said:

من صام يوماً في سبيل الله باعد الله وجهه عن النار سبعين خريفا

Man saama yawman fee sabeeilillaah ba`id allaha wajhahu `ani ’n-naari saba`eena khareefa.
Not one servant fasts one day in the Way of Allah one day in all his life except that Allah (swt) will move him away from Hellfire the distance of 70 years (if he is among those who are going to be punished).

If any person fasts for the Sake of Allah (swt) one day other than in Ramadan, for sure that person will not see any punishment! That is why in Rajab and Sha`baan the Prophet (s) fasted a lot, and Sayyida `Ayesha (r) said:

قالت عائشة رضي الله تعالى عنها: لم يكن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يصوم شهرا أكثر من شعبان فإنه كان يصوم شعبان كله

Qaalat `Aisha lam yakun an-nabiyy yasoomu shahran akthara min sha`bana fa-innahu kaana yasooma sha`baana kullahu.

The Prophet (s) neven fasted a month more than he fasted in Sha`ban for he would fast all of Sha`ban. [continuing to Ramadan.]

But if you break then you have to separate the months by not fasting some days in Sha`baan, but I know many people used to fast these three months without a break; my grandmother fasted and many people fast like that around the world. However, as the now the days are seventeen to eighteen hours long it is difficult, although in the Middle East the fast is twelve hours, still it is good to at least fast Mondays and Thursdays,or one day in every month, or the three days in the middle of the month, ayaam al-beed, “the White Days.”

Allah (swt) honored us to be from Ummat an-Nabi (s) and from the "Brothers of the Prophet," based on a hadith narrated in Bukhari and Muslim, that the Prophet (s) was sitting with his Companions (r) one day and said, ishtaqtu li ikhwaanee, “I miss my brothers.” They said, “Are we not your brothers?” and he (s) said, “No, you are my Companions. My brothers are people who come after me and they believe in me without seeing me. Those I am missing and I want them.”

Ishtaqtu li-ikhwaanee. Faqaala Ashaabahu nahnu yaa rasoolullah? Qaala: laa antum ashaabee ammaa ahbaabee fa-unaasin min ummatee yaatoona fee aakhira’z-zamaan yuhiboonanee wa lam yarawnee, aa`waanakum `alaa al-khayri katheerin wa aa`waanahum `alaa ash-sharri katheer.

Anas bin Malik (r) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (s) said, "I wish that I could meet my brothers." The Sahaabah (r) asked, "Aren't we your brothers?" He replied, "You are my Companions, but my brothers are those who will believe in me without having seen me." You have many supports for doing good and they have many supports for doing evil.
(Al-Albani graded it sahih in al-Silsilah al-Sahihah)

So we have to thank Allah (swt) that He made us believe in the Prophet (s) and thus we became brothers to him! Why are people fasting, praying, making dhikrullah, and sending salawaat on the Prophet (s)? The best you can do is what is written in Holy Qur'an and the Holy Hadith:

نَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا

Inna-Llaaha wa malaa'ikatahu yusalloona `alaa 'n-nabiyy, yaa ayyuha ’Lladheena aamanoo salloo `alayhi was sallimoo tasleema.

Verily, Allah and His angels send praise on the Prophet. O Believers! Pray upon him and greet him. (Surat al-Ahzaab, 33:56)

Inna Allah wa malaa'ikatahu yusalloona `alaa ’n-Nabi, confirms that Allah and His angels are praying on the Prophet (s), and not prayers of worship but prayers/praises that dress Sayyidina Muhammad (s) with Heavenly Lights, which is what the salawaat of Allah and the angels consists of. Yaa ayyuha ’Lladheena aamanoo salloo `alayhi was sallimoo tasleema, "So you mu’min, praise that one that We are praising by dressing with all kinds of Allah's Beautiful Names and Attributes.”

And Allah (swt) mentioned the number in Holy Qur'an, Allah's Ninety-Nine Beautiful Names and Attributes. And He mentioned two kinds of people: believers in the time of the Prophet (s) who saw him and became Muslim, and that is honor for them; and those who believe in the Prophet (s) without seeing him. Those people, like you and every Muslim, Allah (swt) loves them!

The Prophet (s) was sitting with his Companions and said, “Who are the ones with the most imaan, that astonishes and stuns me?” He asked the Sahaabah (r), “Did you hear about them or can you figure out who these people are?” They looked at him and thought, “Who can be of the best imaan?” They said, “The angels, who are always under Allah's Order in everything; it must be the angels.” The Prophet (s) said, Wa kayfa la tumin al-malaaikata wal-amru fawqahum yarawnahu, “How can the angels not have strong imaan when they are in the Divine Presence and they see what they see? Of course they have the best imaan. No, they have imaan, but there are others with the best imaan.” The Sahaabah (r) thought some more and said, “If it is not the angels, then it must be the Prophets.” The Prophet (s) said, “How are the Prophets not going to have imaan when Allah (swt) reveals to them morning and evening and they hear Allah's revelation through Jibreel (a), who brings them the message, or Sayyidina Musa (a), who talks directly as Kaleemullah? How can they not believe when it is being revealed to them?” Then the Sahaabah (r) looked at each other and said, “If not the angels and not Prophets, then it is us. How is it not us and we are following you?” And the Prophet (s) said, “How do you dare to say ‘us,’ and how can you not have imaan when you are among the Prophet (s) and see what he is bringing to you? No, there are others who have the best imaan. The people with the most imaan are those coming after me, who believe in me although they did not see me, and that means coming after you, O Sahaabah! Those are in truth my brothers!”

Qaala rasoolullah yaatee `ala an-naasi zamaan al-qaabidu `ala deenihi ka’l-qaabidu `alaa al-jamr.
The one holding his religion firmly in his hand is like someone holding a burning coal.

Today there is no one who can say they don't commit sins in this time as we do so constantly; when we go to work we sin and when we come back we sin!

The Sahaabah (r) held fast to their religion but they never said, "no" to the Prophet (s). We ask Allah, laa tu-akhidkhnaa, “Don’t take us to task, yaa Allah!” Sometimes we say, "no” to good things and so they wondered, “Who are these people with the strongest faith?” The Prophet (s) said, “They who come after me in the Last Days; when fitna is everywhere they will come and believe in me. They are my brothers and you are my Sahaabah.” He compared that group, which is you, the Muslims living today, who are not killing or doing what Allah does not like. We are asking Allah's forgiveness and may Allah be easy on us! Today it is not easy to be Muslim, but the Prophet (s) gave us good tidings and we repay the Prophet (s) with shukr:

وَ لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ

Wa la’in shakartum la-azeedanakum.
If you thank Me, I will give you more.   (Surah Ibrahim, 14:7)

Don’t miss showing thanks to Allah (swt)! Pray two raka`ats shukr and say, “Alhamdulillah, shukran lillah,” and make salawat on the Prophet (s) in any way you are inspired, but don't stop. Allah didn't say, “Do 200, 300, 1000,” but He kept it open, which means you can even do a million! He (swt) said, “Salloo `alayhi, pray on Prophet (s)” which means in any moment you are free, if you are not reading Holy Qur'an then pray on the Prophet (s).

Look how much we are getting and not thanking! In the narration of Imam Muslim (r), whoever makes salawat on the Prophet (s), Allah will make on that person ten salawat! Is our salawat like Allah's, which will open anything closed and clean us from every dirtiness? Allah (swt) will open what you need opened as you are from Ummat an-Nabi (s), from Prophet's spiritual blood, if we can say that. Allah (swt) honored each of us with the spiritual light of the Prophet (s) and he said, “For every good deed there are ten rewards,” which is candy for us! No one is able to understand what Allah (swt) will give and there are lot of opinions among scholars about it. The normal opinion that many Muslims believe is that for every good deed, Allah (swt) will reward you according to His Greatness.

We give according to our ego and desires but Allah (swt) gives according to His Greatness, which has no limits! For example, when I pray two raka`ats the hasanat is equal to twenty raka`ats, but Allah's reward of twenty raka`ats is according to His Greatness and it goes up to 700 times more (credit for up to 1400 raka`ats)!

Once Prophet (s) asked the Sahaabah (r), “Can any of you pray two raka`ats without any external thoughts of dunya entering your mind, only feeling Allah, His Prophet and Ka`aba in front of you? I will give my jubba to whoever does that.”

The Sahaabah (r) tried and said, "We didn't do it because we thought something."
Sayyidina `Ali (r) prayed two raka`ats without thinking of dunya, and afterwards he tought, “Which jubba will Prophet (s) give me, the red one, the green one or the black one?"

That is an example of the hadith of someone that keeps his religion is like the one holding a hot burning coal. Do we sin and make mistakes? Yes, but don’t forget Allah's maghfirah, forgiveness, and that He said, “I will reward up to 700 times (per good deed).” The exception is fasting in the Way of Allah (swt), Who said, “The fast is for Me and I will reward it directly.” That is one day extra in your life, in your year. Today people remember the day of their “birth,” when they became Muslim; fast that day.
Imam Muslim (r) narrated about the virtues of fasting on Mondays, as Prophet (s) said, “Monday is the day I was born.” Fast that day or any day.

Li-as-saaim farhataan: farhatan `inda fitratihi wa farhatan `inda liqaa rabbih.

The one who puts aside his bad desires and his food for the sake of loving Me, I will grant him two happinesses: one when he breaks his fast, and one when he meets his Lord.  (Muslim)

The first happiness for the one who fasts is to know you were able to do it, as fasting 17-18 hours is not easy, so Allah (swt) gives him happiness when he breaks fast, and he will be happy on the Day of Judgment when he is facing and seeing His Lord.

O Muslims! Allah is giving us from His Endless Mercy that He didn't give to anyone else:

كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ

Kuntum khayra ummatin ukhrajit li ’n-naas, taamuroona bi ’l-ma`roofa wa tanhawna `ani’l-munkari wa tuminoona billaah.

You are the best of nations sent forth to mankind, calling for good and forbidding evil and believing in Allah. (Aali `Imraan, 3:110)

Show your Lord that you are the best of ummahs (not showing people), which means to recite shukran lillah, thank Allah (swt), and don’t forget! We have to go to work, pray and fast, and that is obligatory, but there is also nafl, the voluntary acts of worship Prophet (s) used to do, fasting and making du`a and thanking Allah.

O Muslims! Thank Allah (swt) for what He has guided you to!

Parents’ Negativity Veils Babies from the Divine Presence

Muslimsufi : Parents’ Negativity Veils Babies from the Divine Presence

  By Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani
27 May 2012     Fenton Zawiya, Michigan
Suhbah Before Salaat azh-Zhuhr (1)

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.
Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah,
nawaytu 'r-riyaadah, nawaytu 's-sulook, lillahi ta`alaa fee haadha 'l-masjid.

Ati`oollaha wa ati`oo 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.

Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)

Grandshaykh `AbdAllah, may Allah bless his soul, and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, may Allah give him long life, used to say, "Don't think I am the one speaking to you, but look to The One Who is making me speak, the Source of light and knowledge for you.” All of us are born on imaan, as the Prophet (s) said:

يولد الانسان على الفطرة وانما ابواه يهودانه او ينصرانه او يمجسانه

Yoolidu al-insaanu `ala ‘l-fitra fa imma abbawaahu yuhawwidaanihi aw yunasaraanihi aw yumajjisaanih.

Human beings are born on fitra, innocence; either his parents make him Jewish or Christian or Zoroastrian.

This means they are born on pure faith. In the womb of the mother, for nine months or whatever period you spend there, you are one hundred-percent pure and honored as human beings, but veils begin to veil you from the spiritual life you lived in the womb, until slowly they close you off and you no longer see what you saw there.

The womb of the mother is the most real seclusion for everyone, and The Divine ordered all humans to have at least one seclusion, and also in the spiritual life one also has to complete other seclusions. The seclusion in the womb is so pure that as soon as you come out, negative energy around us and mistakes of the mother and father begin to veil the child from seeing those realities, and it becomes so thick that they cannot see anything. Sometimes it is a thin veil through which we can still see, but not as clearly as in the womb, where the real seclusion is done.

Some become awliyaullah and their veils are lifted during their lifetime, as Allah (swt) grants hedieh, a gift you don't deserve except by making progress in your spritual life. For others the veils are lifted before they are born, which is hibbah, a gift from Allah (swt), not a grant. Allah grants Prophets their prophecies, like all the brothers of Sayyidina Yusuf (a) were Prophets although they him in the well. Some awliyaullah are inheritors of Prophets; they are not Prophets and not ma`soom like Prophets, but are granted from birth not to be veiled. There are also awliyaullah that are not granted except through their progress in their life to do their best for the ummah and themselves, a result from their excessive worship and passing through excessive difficulties and obstacles, finally to be granted unveiling and to reach the Reality of Sainthood.

This doesn't mean awliyaullah that have been granted unveiling from birth do not have to worship; they have to do even more worship, but they see what others cannot. Grandshaykh `AbdAllah, may Allah bless his soul, was one of them. He used to say, “When I came from my mothers' womb, I never experienced the slow veiling (he remained unveiled).” When the parents feed their child, often there is negative energy  in that food from people around them or even from the nanny, and that veils the child. We know Prophet (s) said, “Everyone is born on innocence,” which means they are born on sainthood.

Today no one is spared from big problems because he or she may be carrying unclean energy from their lifestyles, from the outside, and they bring it back home, which affects the relationship between parents, which in turn affects the children. So everyone in the home is affected and their spiritual levels drop down, and from this there will be fire in the house between everyone! So we have to be very careful not to carry these bad energies from outside and dump them on others as that is not fair. You chose tariqah as your way, so keep yourself as much as you can saying istighfaar during your day and night, and show a smile, as the Prophet (s) said:

تبسمك في وجه أخيك صدقه

Tabasamak fee wajhih akheek sadaqah.
Even a smile in the face of your brother is from imaan. (Bukhari)

To smile in the face of your brother is from imaan. What do you think about a husband and wife who smile at each other? Today you only see them looking away from each other, fighting and accusing, “You did this, you did that!” Then they come to us and say, “We have problems.” They have problems because their veils are thicker! Today one person said, “I want to be more spiritual and involve myself in spirituality.” Spirituality doesn't come from a window or door, as some people are teaching on the Internet. You cannot buy spirituality. Fix yourself first! If you have problems in your house and are teaching people, whoever follows you will receive negative energy instead of positive energy.

Today many call themselves representatives of Shaykhs, and they mix teachings and practices from Hinduism, Zenism, Shaytanism or jinnism, put this all together and spice it up with sprinkles of real spirituality, saying, “This is it.” People look at that made-up package and say, “O! A nice, beautiful cake.” As soon they go inside it (acept it), Shaytan dresses them, because there is no other true spirituality except that of Islam: the spirituality of the Prophet (s), of Holy Qur’an and Hadith! Spirituality has to go hand-in-hand with the Six Pillars of Imaan, and with the main pillar of Ihsaan, Moral Excellence! This is what we believe, and whoever believes differently, that is not our responsibility.

There is nothing wrong with lighting a candle to do your awrad in that light; I saw Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and Hajjah Anne do it many times, also using a kerosene lamp, and you can ask Hajjah Naziha about it. In 1980, when Mawlana Shaykh moved back to Cyprus, he used to light a small candle and perform the night prayers, until he went to the masjid to pray Fajr. Awliyaullah have said don’t be in a completely dark room, keep some light there as jinn run away from light. So he used to light a small candle with a nice smell and pray until daylight came and then put it off, or when he prays in the masjid or in jama`ah he would put it off. Many times I used to stay in his room in Cyprus, which Ruqiyah has now, and when she used to stay in the same room with him, she lit a candle and put it off when it was time to go to the mosque. Back then, candles did not melt quickly.

Allaahu nooru 's-samaawaati wa 'l-ardi mathala noorihi kamishkaatin feehaa misbaah.
Allah is the Light of the heavens and earth. The parable of His Light is as if there were a niche and within it a lamp. (Surat an-Noor, 24:35)

Light gives you light; don’t be without it. In old times they used to put oil lamps in the streets, is it not? It is sunnah of the Prophet (s) to see where you are walking as there may have been scorpions or snakes to avoid. To have a light is sunnah.

Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, said, “One time the Prophet (s) was eating and the wind came and blew out the light, and Prophet (s) said, ‘Laa hawla wa laa quwatta illa billahi 'l-`Aliyyu 'l-`Azheem,’ showing his displeasure that the light was off, and he ordered the Sahaabah (r) to relight it.” So it is okay to light candles. Spirituality has to comply with teachings of Islam and the practices of Maqaam al-Imaan and Maqaam al-Ihsaan. You can take from Holy Qur'an, hadith of the actions of the Sahaabah (r), and then from the teachings of awliyaullah. Whoever takes from their teachings and summarizes them is doing his best, because he is saying, “This is not my teaching, it is my Shaykh's teaching,” and that is connected to his Grandshaykh and his Great-Grandshaykh, going back to the Prophet (s)!

You cannot say, “I have a website that teaches spirituality,” and you don’t have one verse of Holy Qur'an on it! When you take from what awliyaullah say, they are responsible. When I was young I used to speak without opening anything and it was not correct although it was Mawlana's teaching, but because it makes one proud, to think, “I am qualified.” Open a notebook, a salawat book, the Holy Qur'an or hadith, and read from what I or Mawlana said, or what the Prophet (s) said, then from one line they will open one lecture! Don’t be proud that you can speak from what you memorized as that is arrogance, but when you say, “It is from my Shaykh's teaching,” and you have notes in front of you, when you address people in this way you will be trying to open more doors. Then you speaking will be like video games that open to one level after the other. When a notebook is in front of you, Allah (swt) inspires you and takes away veils one by one, when you show humility that, “This is not my teaching or from me, it is the teaching of my Shaykh.” Don’t put foreign sprinkles from outside of Islam; don’t bother with that, but be bothered with what you have! Make salawat, not  something that will contaminate people with foreign ideas outside the realm of Islam and imaan. Now too many people are falling into that danger. To avoid that, Grandshaykh (q) said, “Never speak without looking at my notes.” Even one look is enough to let people know that you are not speaking from yourself, but the one really speaking is behind you and you are only delivering his message.

Just now I got the inspiration from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) that Sayyidina Abdul Qadir al-Jilani (q) is saying, “Talk about my story,” which we mentioned many times before. Sayyidina Abdul Qadir al-Jilani (q), who is Ghawth al-`Azham, said, “If you see someone flying in the air and breaking Shari`ah, say, ‘that person is a Shaytan,’ even if he is a big wali, as he has no right to do that.” A real wali will do things in an indirect way with humility, and will show that someone else did it. The Qadiri, Naqshbandi and Chisti tariqahs have real awliyaullah that follow this important principle.

Grandshaykh (q) mentioned that when they were taking Muhyideen ibn `Arabi (q) to be hanged, he passed by a Naqshbandi shaykh and asked him, “Pray for me.” That shaykh prayed for him, but they still took him to prison. A month later when they were going to hang him, he saw another shaykh and said to him, “I am Muhyideen ibn `Arabi, pray for me,” and then they didn't hang him. Although it appeared the prayer of the second wali had released him, in reality it was the prayer of the Naqshbandi wali, and this was veiled from Muhyideen ibn `Arabi (q) as Naqshbandi saints do not show miracles. Thereafter, Muhyideen ibn `Arabi and Mansour al-Hallaj (q) continued to spread their teachings, but after a couple of years they were both hanged.

Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, said, “I could see everything from the time I was in the womb of my mother.” That is a miracle of awliyaullah. According to a medical report that I read, the unborn child reacts to whatever the mother sees and does in her daily life. For instance, if the mother is reading Holy Qur'an so is the child, and it can feel the energy of the mother. The child is born innocent, meaning it can see and witness. Grandshaykh (q) said, “When I came out of my mother’s womb I didn't cry like other babies, because I was still seeing and connected with Akhirah, and I was happy.” When the child cries at birth, doctors assume it is to open his lungs, but can’t Allah (swt) make the child born with his lungs already open, as He made all his other organs? Therefore, why does he have to cry? Awliyaullah say, “The child cries because it begins to see the veils coming down one after another.”

Grandshaykh (q) said, “I was born without veils. and Allah (swt) gave me the power to see the Preserved Tablets. At age seven, parents of Daghestan came to me and asked which girl should marry their boys. Allah (swt) gave me the power to see the names on the Preserved Tablets and then I consulted the parents, whjo sometimes said, ‘We want this boy to marry that girl,’ and I sometimes refused and said, ‘No, go and find this one instead.’ They found that person and they all lived happily, as it coincided with the Preserved Tablets.”

Before he passed away, Grandshaykh (q) said, “I’ve never had a veil on me since the day I was born.” Throughout his life he was never veiled, and he showed us a miracle after he passed away to prove that. Shaykh Adnan and I were with a cardiologist beside Grandshaykh’s (q) bed before his passing. He said, “Check my pulse, it is beating very fast.” It was at 200 beats/minute. Then Grandshaykh said, “I don’t want anyone in the room,” so we went upstairs to the zawiya. Five minutes later his daughter, Madiha, shouted, “My father is not breathing and not moving!” so we went to see him. At this point Grandshaykh had a zero pulse and no blood pressure. Out of love, the cardiologist ran to his car, 12 minutes there and back, and he returned with an adrenaline injection. As soon as he prepared to give it, Grandshaykh (q) opened his eyes and said, “Burak! Leave it, don’t touch it!” He was not veiled in dunya or in Akhirah, he merely passed from one to another.

Awliyaullah are not veiled. Most scholars say, “If you are consistent with your prayers and obligations, you are a wali but you might get it in your grave and not in dunya, as you would make seclusion in the grave and become a wali. Grandshaykh (q) always said that seclusion in dunya is better than seclusion in the grave by a thousand times. This is not a random teaching, like a cake with many layers of different ingredients from here and there, then sprinkling an Islamic flavor on top! That is not normal, and it might suit the ego of the one who baked it, but it is not a cure for everyone.

Yesterday, a lady told me, “I am doing meditation.”
I said, “What kind?”
She said, “ I found one on the Internet and am following it, but I began to feel pain in my shoulder and neck. I see different colors, but with difficulties and pain.”
I asked, “Is that the meditation we taught?”
She said, “No, but they say they are mureeds of Shaykh Nazim.”
I said, “Meditation is an accepted principle, which is either muraaqabah, to observe, muraabitah, to connect, and tafakkur, to think.”

Allah (swt) said in Holy Qur'an:

الَّذِينَ يَذْكُرُونَ اللّهَ قِيَامًا وَقُعُودًا وَعَلَىَ جُنُوبِهِمْ وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَذا بَاطِلاً سُبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Alladheena yadhkuroonullaaha qiyamaan wa qu`oodan wa `alaa junoobihim wa yattafakkaroona fee khalqi 's-samawaati wa 'l-ardi rabbanaa maa khalaqta hadhaa baatilan subhaanaka fa qinaa `adhaaba 'n-naar.

Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the Creation of the Heavens and the Earth, (saying) "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose! Glory to You! Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire." (Surat Aali `Imraan, 3:191)

“Those who reflect on the creation of heavens and earth” means who do their dhikr or awraad and then reflect on the creation of heavens and earth.

All tariqahs follow what the Prophet (s) said:

تفكر ساعة خير من عبادة سبعين سنة

Tafakkarru sa`atin khayrun min `ibaadati saba`een sannah.
To remember (contemplate or meditate) Allah for one hour is better than seventy years of worship.

To meditate, contemplate, reflect or whatever word you want to use, on how you are doing and how to reach the Divine Presence is accepted as if you worshipped seventy years. So look how important meditation is, but it has to be religious meditation and you cannot bring something from left or right and say, “This is mediation.” No, you close your eyes and have a dim light in a small room, just like I saw Hajjah Anne (q), Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) and Grandshaykh (q) do, and connect your heart with your teacher. That is the first connection, and then the Shaykh will connect you to the heart of the Prophet (s). Sometimes it is easy to connect your heart with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) because he is living and in front of you, so it is easy to see him in your mind. To connect from him to the Prophet (s) and from the Prophet (s) to Allah (swt) must go step by step.

Grandshaykh (q) and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) often said if you are unable to connect to your Shaykh and then to Prophet (s) and with Allah (swt), then connect with al-Rawdah, the muwaajaha. Can you not see the grille of Prophet’s maqaam when you close your eyes? Close your eyes and connect to the Prophet (s); can you see him? I say for sure not one of you can see him. You cannot, but you can feel a presence, something going on and you cannot explain it. Close your eyes and say, “I am connecting to the Prophet (s) through my Shaykh.” You can feel something because the Prophet (s) doesn't appear before your eyes as that is only for awliyaullah. And then, if you want to connect to the Divine Presence for sure you cannot do it, until you establish the line of connection to your Shaykh and from him to the Prophet (s). So for sure you cannot, but to connect to the Divine Presence you connect to the Ka`bah. Can you connect to the Ka`bah or not? Everyone can. This method is the real meditation. We don’t want to discuss other things you find here and there, but it is important to teach what we learned, which is a different way of meditation.

Now some people might say, “Why do you put your fingers like that? Buddhists and Hindus do that.” Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) closed his fingers like that and said, “O Coolness of my eyes, yaa Rasulullah!” And I explained many times that the ID finger is here (thumb) and here (index finger) and they are witnessing that the Prophet (s) is the Prophet of Allah (swt)! And in them are points, are there not? You are a doctor, do you treat patients with points? (Yes.) You are Muslim, you pray your prayers and fast Ramadan, and confirm that you treat pateints with points? (Yes.)

In a hadith, the Prophet (s) mentioned there are 360 points in human beings, and these points are used for treatment in Chinese medicine. Some Egyptian doctors studied that hadith (and the science of points) and found it coincides with the number of points in human beings. There are nine main points in human beings and these are related to the nine awliyaullah that can do Sultan adh-Dhikr. And I will not go into detail, but the first one to know about this was Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami (r), who completed the Holy Qur'an once with Sultan adh-Dhikr, with its secrets. Until the time of Great Grandshaykh they were using these points. And there are seven lataa'if on the chests of human beings.
Some people criticize our use of numbers, but we follow the Prophet (s), who mentioned numbers! He said, “If you recite ‘subhaanAllah, alhamdulillah, laa ilaaha illaLlah, Allahu Akbar’ one-thousand times, you go to Paradise.”

And it is mentioned to recite salawaat in specified numbers. Even your awraad follows numbers. Why do they say numbers are not accepted? You recite 250 salawaat on the Prophet (s) on Monday, Thursday, and Friday, and some people recite 1,000 times and others do more, in the thousands. And you recite 500 times “yaa Samad,” as written in The Naqshbandi Sufi Way. “Yaa Samad” means, “Don’t leave me, Yaa Rabb, O the One Who Does Not Need Support, Who has Absolute Power, support me!” And then, we are ordered to recite “alhamdulillah” 500 times a day, praising Allah (swt) that He created us from Ummat an-Nabi (s), and another 500 times a day we recite “alhamdulillah” that we were not created outside Ummat an-Nabi (s). Many other recitations are according to prescribed numbers: “laa hawla wa laa quwwata illa billah” a thousand times; “laa ilaaha illa-Llah” a thousand times.

So, do we use numbers or not? Then how can they be against numbers? Some of Asmaa ul-Husna, like, “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem” corresponds to the number “786.” So some awliyaullah say to recite according to the number of that Name or that ayah. For example, recite “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem” 786 times. Asmaa ul-Husna are Allah's Beautiful Names and Attributes. So according to these numbers you recite the names, and that is well established in Islam,
Imam Abu Hamid al-Ghazali (r) was a Sufi and he followed Shari`ah, and he wrote of many such recitations. Also the months are numbered. Every wali comes with numbers, which must coincide with what we believe.

So Grandshaykh (q) was not veiled and he was able to see dunya and Akhirah, and there are many awliyaullah like that. We pray to Grandshaykh (q) from here, and of course his spirit is here. When you make salawat on the Prophet (s) he is there, as his soul is returned to him each time we recite salawat on him. We ask him (s) to cure us of all diseases, and relieve our difficulties, and give us good of this life and the Next, and to join us with the Prophet (s) in Paradise!

I explained that whoever uses our name or Mawlana Shaykh Nazim's name is responsible for what he puts on his website, and people cheat and use our names everywhere! There are many websites today that add “sprinkles” (bead candies on cakes) to make it look like we are behind it and we are not related to them. We are only affiliated with Sufilive.com, eShaykh.com, Naqshbandi.org, Sunnah.org, islamicsupremecouncil.org, and Worde.org, an organization in Washington, DC.
