[Hafizh `Abdu'r-Rahman recites Quran]
We heard today, in this beautiful day, the recitation of the Holy Qur'an that makes the heart rejoicing in Allah's Mercy and makes the heart happy to hear such a beautiful qira'ah, Qira'ah al-Warsh. Shaykh `Abdu'r-Rahman from China recites in seven different recitations up to fourteen different ways.
SubhaanAllah, he recites (with a beautiful) voice and we heard his voice, but is there anyone who heard the Quran recited by the Prophet (s), or from Jibril (a), with the voice that Jibril (a) reciting it, or in the the way the Allah Himself recited Quran? And Shaykh `Abdu'r-Rahman recited with such a beautiful voice. What then about the recitation of the Prophet (s) to the Sahaabah (r), what then of the recitation of Sayyidina Jibril (as) to the Prophet (s), and what then of the recitation of Allah (swt) to the Prophet (s)?
Law anzalnaa haadha 'l-quraana `alaa jabalin la-raaytahu khaashi`an mutasaddi`an min khashyatillaahi wa tilka 'l-amthaalu nadribuhaa li 'n-naasi la`allahum yatafakkaroon.
Had We sent down this Qur'an on a mountain, verily you would have seen it humble itself and cleave asunder for fear of Allah. Such are the similitudes that We propound to men that they may reflect. (Surat al-Hashr, 59:21)
"If We had revealed that Qur'an to a mountain, it would have fallen down out of fear." What about the heart of the Prophet (s)? He was able to carry that. The Qur'an was revealed the first time in lahzhatin waahidan, at one time to the Prophet (s), then it was revealed later verse by verse.
I said, subhaanAllah, we have just heard the recitation of Shaykh `Abdur Rahman who is coming from the other end of the world, from China, and his recitation is better than Arabs, and he recited it according to Qira'at al-Warsh for the people of Africa, who recite with Warsh. And it struck our hearts, where every ayah was recited in a very pure way; that makes the heart rejoicing in the manifestation of these beautiful Words that Allah revealed to the Prophet (s)! We heard his voice, Shaykh `Abdu'r-Rahman's, and he learned from his teacher. There is a big difference: with his voice we were so happy, rejoicing in this mercy that Allah gave to the Prophet (s) in Holy Qur'an, but in what way were Sahaabah (r) hearing the Prophet (s) recite the Holy Qur'an? It made them faint, but they did not faint. Why? Because he dressed them, he raised them, and he dressed them from his beauty, from the reflection of his shamaa'il, his spirit and his power so that they will not faint, instead they rejoiced.
And Allah (swt) said in Holy Qur'an, "If We revealed that Holy Qur'an on a mountain that mountain will scatter and shatter completely to powder." What about that He revealed the Holy Qur'an on the heart of the Prophet (s) and the Prophet (s) did not scatter or shatter? You will see the mountain coming down like smoke, completely like powder, if Allah reveals on this universe, it cannot carry it. That means Muhammad (s) is stronger than the universe, stronger than anything Allah created!
If the Sahaabah (r) heard Prophet and they were so happy and they were rejoicing then with what kind of voice did the Prophet (s) hear Quran from Allah (swt)? Sayyidina `Umar (r) was at first completely opposed to Islam but then, when he heard one ayah - what happened? He changed. Sayyidina `Umar (r) was known for being so tough and stubborn, holding onto belief in his religion at that time, and he heard his sister had accepted Islam. He could not accept that his sister had become Muslim. He went to her house, in anger, and entered her house, and his sister was afraid that he would kill her.
He said,"What are you reading? Give me the papers!"
Narrating this incident, Sayyidina `Umar's sister said, "Allah gave me the power to answer him for the first time; I used to never answer my brother, but Allah gave me the power to answer him."
She told him, "You are not clean, so you cannot touch it or even hear the Holy Qur'an."
She was like a lion petting a lion!
Sayyidina `Umar (r) thought, "How can my sister shout at me?" as it had never happened before. "How is she shouting at me? What happened?"
Whoever holds the Holy Qur'an in his hand cannot fear anyone. Sayyidina `Umar went and took a shower. He didn't say `no' to his sister for just then imaan began to enter his heart. Why? Because the Prophet (s) had asked Allah, "O Allah! Give me one of the two `Umars," and Allah answered his du`a and gave him `Umar al-Khattaab (r). And as soon as Sayyidina `Umar (r) recited, he said, "Take me to the Prophet (s)."
He came to where the Prophet (s) was staying and everyone was hiding (from fear of `Umar)! He knocked on the door, and the Sahaabah (r) said, "It is `Umar ibn al-Khattaab."
The Prophet (s) said, "Let him come, we shall see what he wants."
So they went to open the door and said, "What do you want, `Umar?"
He said, "I came to accept Islam in front of you, yaa Rasulullah."
That was due to one ayah of Holy Qur'an, so what then do you think of 6,666 aayaats? We have from the time of revelation to the Prophet (s) during 23 years, 6,666 aayaats of Holy Qur'an. One is enough to make you Muslim, so 6,666 will make you into 6,666 Muslims, is it not? Every ayah has the power to turn the whole universe into Islam if Allah wishes, and that number "6,666" has a meaning in numerology. Add them together: the first 6 + 6 = 12, then the third 6 = 18, then the fourth 6 = 24. What did Allah (swt) say in Holy Qur'an?

Say: Is it that you deny Him Who created the Earth in two days and do you join equals with Him?
He is the Lord of (all) the Worlds. He set on the (Earth), mountains standing firm, high above it, and bestowed blessings on the Earth and measure therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion in four days, in accordance with (the needs of) those who seek (sustenance). Then turned He to the Heavens when it was smoke and said to it and to the Earth, "Come, both of you, willingly or not." They said, "We come obedient(ly)." Then He ordained them Seven Heavens in two days and inspired in each Heaven its mandate, and We decked the nearest Heaven with lamps and rendered it inviolable. That is the measuring of The Mighty, The Knower. (Surat al-Fussilat, 41: 9-12)
As we said, it is impossible listening to Shaykh `Abdu'r-Rahman's recitation not to cry; he made everyone here cry. Were not Sahaabah (r) crying in front of the Prophet (s) when he was reciting in front of them? Do you think the recitation of the Prophet (s) is like our recitation? When he recites, is it like ours? Every letter that comes from the mouth of the Prophet (s) that he recites comes with noor and it was dressing the Sahaabah (r) as he recited. Mawlana, may Allah give him long life, said that on every letter there are 24,000 oceans of knowledge that Allah opens! So what did he recite just now?
Look at the miracles of Holy Qur'an in numbers. 6 + 6 = 12 + 6 = 18 + 6 = 24. 2+4=6. He recited that Allah (swt) created the Heavens and Earth in two days and then He created the provision for it's creatures, for everything Allah created on this Earth in four days. It means we are under the rule of six days: two days for creating this Earth and four days for it's provision equals six. And if you add the 666 aayaat of Holy Qur'an all together it gives six. What kind of resemblance is this? And what kind of miracle are we seeing here? That adds up to six days.
And how many suras are in Holy Qur'an? There are 114 suras in Holy Qur'an, and if you add them together it is 1 + 1 + 4 = 6. Allahu Akbar! What power this number 6 possesses, the mind cannot understand.
Everything is linked together in the Holy Qur'an. When you make wudu, what are the sunnahs of wudu? You make takhleel of the fingers, rubbing between the two sets of fingers, and on each palm of the hands there are the numbers 18 and 81. Look at your right hand (palm), the number 18 is written there in Arabic, and look at your left hand, there is the number 81. These add 18 + 81 = 99, add to Allah's Beautiful Names and Attributes! You are activating that and that is the importance of wudu: it will dress you in the anwaar, the lights, of the 99 Names! As soon as you begin to make wudu and rub your hands and palms together, the 18 and 81, the 99 Names, you activate those 99 Names and Allah has put the secret here (in both palms).
Also, 9 + 9 = 18, and 1 + 8 = 9, and in numerology 9 is equivalent to zero, so it indicates submission to Allah (swt). So when you rub your hands together in wudu it means you are going to submit to Allah (swt); in complete surrender to Allah through His Beautiful Names and Attributes, so it takes you to the Door of Surrender. To surrender where? It is the threshold of the Divine Presence.
Prophet (s) said:
وجعلت قرة عينى فى الصلاه
wa ju`ilat quratu`aynee fi 's-salaat.
The light of my eyes is prayer.
Wudu is the beginning of the prayers, and "the beginning of the prayers" means you are beginning with submission, with all Allah's Names and Attributes.
O Muslims! These numbers in Holy Qur'an, no one can understand. There are many other numbers that inshaa-Allah, if there is time we can explain them, but here now (we are discussing) what Sahaabah (r) heard from the Prophet (s) was not the same that we are hearing from our reciters today. They were hearing something [special] and he (s) was dressing them with it.
Every letter of Holy Qur'an has noor in it. And where is the explanation of this? It is found in Surat Maryam. When Jibril (a) came with Surat Maryam and recited, "Kaf," the Prophet (s) said, "`Alimtu, I know it." And Jibril (a) recited, "Haa," and the Prophet (s) said, "`Alimtu," and he recited, "Yaa," and the Prophet (s) said, "`Alimtu," and he recited, "`Ayn," and the Prophet (s) said, "`Alimtu," and he recited, "Saad," and the Prophet (s) said, "`Alimtu."
And we can understand the meaning of letters and numbers here. "Kaf, Haa, Yaa, `Ayn, Saad," and Prophet (s) said, "I knew," for each one.
What did he know? The first letter is Kaf and Creation began with Kaf because it is by the Kaf in Kun, "'Be!' and it is!" And it is also said, "Allah's Order is between Kaf and Noon." When Allah's Will comes, before "Kun!" [is even uttered] there is a will to create, and therefore, there must be a plan. When His will comes, immediately from the Beautiful Name "al-Khaaliq," The Creator, appears the whole kawn, universe, represented also by Kaf. Do you think that Allah (swt) has only one kawn? Allah has infinite number of universes that He created and is still creating, and in every moment Allah creates a universe and the Prophet (s) is the prophet of every universe, because Allah honored him by putting the Prophet's Name besides His Own Name!
The Prophet (s) is the prophet of every Creation/universe, not Sayyidina Musa (a) and not Sayyidina `Isa (a). Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) says that Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is the prophet to every Creation, from beginning to end! If we say Allah has only one universe, it does not befit His Name "al-Khaaliq." If we say there are two universes it doesn't befit, if we say there are one million it doesn't befit! So that means there are an infinite number of universes Allah is creating.
Grandshaykh (q) said that Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) is carrying that secret, and he said one time Jibril (a) said, "Yaa Rabbee, show me Your Creation, Your universe." Allah said, "Yaa Jibril, you have My permission. Open all your wings and move with that power."
In Physics, this universe is moving with the speed of light, at 300,000 kilometers per second. All galaxies, which they say number 60,000 - but which Mawlana said number 6 million - are moving in a vacuum, in a void, and no one knows where they are going. Jibril (a) was moving for a period of 70,000 years of Allah's Divine Years and he got tired. [Keep in mind] when he used to come to the Prophet (s) with revelation, he used two wings where in fact he has 600 wings. When Allah ordered him to go and see the size of creation, Jibril (as) opened all 600 wings and flew as far as Allah likes and then stopped and asked, "Is it finished?"
Allah (swt) said, "O Jibril, you are in a corner of My Creation and you have seen nothing yet!"
Jibril (a) said, "O My Lord! I saw something I never imagined. Wherever I am moving, it is like land but it is not land, up to as far as I can see." (Jibril can see not only to the horizon, but from Heavens to Earth.) And I looked and saw it is made of tiny pieces of white crystals all over the place where I was moving. I was looking at what is like an ocean of such crystals, with no beginning and no end, and each one of those crystal is a universe. In the middle of that huge expanse there is a green tree and on top of it is a beautiful green bird. That bird goes down and takes one small white crystal in its beak and goes back to the tree, climbs to the top, and then eats that crystal. It then comes down another time and picks up another, goes up the tree and eats it. During that 70,000 years I was moving, I saw that bird go down and take a crystal, one by one."
Allah (swt) said to Jibril (a), "You did not see anything yet. This bird represents Muhammad (s) and I showed his reality to you as a bird. If he showed you his reality you could not take it. Each time he picks up one crystal, that is one whole universe that I created! Every time he eats, I create a universe from that small crystal!"
O Muslims! Where can we understand Holy Qur'an? Where can we understand the Prophet (s)? Where can we understand the Sahaabah (r)? Where we can understand awliyaullah? Where we can understand Sultan al-Awliya? Where can we understand the secret that every human being carries?
I was going to bring this topic, but in front of Shaykh `Abdu'r-Rahman we cannot, we are learning. But the hadith is adnoo shayaateenakum, "Make your shayaateen tired by reciting `laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammad Rasoolullah'." We will go into that next time. With Shaykh `Abdu'r-Rahman here, I don't know how to get him to recite some verses of Holy Qur'an and we will record it and broadcast it every time we begin a lecture! We can take him to the conference in Malaysia to recite and they will love to hear him.
Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
